Characterize this as you will. It’s either the latest positive piece I’ve written about Michelle Obama or another one of my many backhanded swipes at the Clintons.
Real people are moved to tears by stories like Beau Biden’s … a four-year-old boy losing his mom and sister in a tragic car accident on their way home from buying the family Christmas tree. And, Michelle Obama is real people.
I don’t think I’m reading too much into this either. She appeared to be genuinely moved. Her reaction seemed to be that of a normal person … trying to hide the show of emotion.
I also watched her closely when the anything but genuine Clintons took to the stage. And, unlike all of the other Kool-Aid drinking partisans in the Pepsi Center (two product mentions in one sentence) she didn’t seem overly impressed.
And, how could you be? It was a lot of bull. More of Bill and Hillary doing what they do best … saying whatever they need to … to save their butts. Their attempts at preserving their political future were truly laughable. And, it would be plainly obvious if it weren’t for their water carriers in the mainstream media, more than willing to sing their praises as wound healers. Only in fairy tale Clintonland can the wound inflicter become the wound healer so easily. Bottom line … Michelle Obama rightly looked as if she was patiently waiting for their moment (90 minutes or so between them) to be over.
Back to the Clintons … they’ve made fake emotion a staple of their political lives. Did anyone in the real world truly believe Mrs. Clinton’s acting job on the “Today” show, when she was first confronted with the Monica Lewinsky fallout? She didn’t know about Bill’s ways? Please.
Then there’s the commander-in-lip-biter himself. How many insincere displays of emotion has Bill authored over the years with the lip biting technique. A friend of mine would be quick to weigh in … his favorite phony show of emotion from the former president came following a funeral. Bill was laughing and joking with someone as he left the church. That is until he noticed the cameras. Acting for them, he quickly bowed his head and adopted a more somber tone.
I’ll say it again. Democrats have done themselves a favor by ditching the Clintons. Don’t worry Clinton fans … like a fungus they’ll be back. And, I don’t know what kind of president Barack Obama would be. But, there’s no disputing at the very least he represents change in this area. He and his wife aren’t the phony elitists the Clintons painted them as in their latest ruthless attempt to re-secure power. Although, one could say of the Clintons … it takes a phony elitist to know one.
