Matt you are insane. Ehlich could never take Mikulski's seat. Republicans are still in the minority in this state. The new face of the Republican Party will be a person of color or female.

Other than taking different stances on gay marriage and abortion, your report on the death of the Republican party is merely wishful thinking on your (and many close-minded sheeple Liberals) part.

So Jesse Ventura will be the new face of this new Republican party, or Republican party offshoot? The same, independent Jesse Ventura that currently lives in Mexico and believes that 9/11 was an inside job? The same Jesse Ventura that once said that organized religion is a sham and a crutch for weak minded people? I know that you think he will go up against the Christain right faction of the party but come on now, a person that speaks like this will turn off even those of us in the party that don't fear gay people getting married or a woman deciding what is right or wrong for her own self. Anyway, I don't disagree with the overall crux of your post here but give the Republicans a little more credit than picking Jesse "the whatever the hell he calls himself these days" Ventura as our new image or leader. I don't know who the new face of the party will be but I'll guarantee that it's not him.

Did you notice how many white people that were in Obamas Infomercial. Who rounded up the players for this soap opera . Instead of a bunch of wealthy individuals where was the poor he wants to give our hard earned money to . Where is the underclass he keeps preachingabout. The difference between Bill Cliton and Obama is Bill C was a Governor and had the experience to run a state. Obama has not kelp his word to the people that voted him in to his seat. How can you trust the word of a who hasn’t gotten the job done he has. The big picture he is not ready . He says he will change the country but in the real world it is us who will change it. You dont have to give big brother the right to rule your life. We control congress with the voice we give them . We need less federal spending and less taxes. Not more big government and less in our pockets. We need a strong military leader not a cut and run guy. WAKE UP DONT BE SHEEP.

UGH! No love for the Phightins. Is this another case of no Tampon Bay fans more than an overall HATRED for the other team's city? I fell that it is more the latter, which is fine. 4 wins away, indeed.... from every sports fans' worst nightmare. And that would be a PHILLY PROFESSIONAL SPORTS TEAM'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP.

Matt,
Excellent commentary. Heard you on the KMS radio show also -- par excellence.

I agree that McCain's grumpy rhetoric is old and tired. Americans are ready for change. Obama might not have all the answers -- who does? -- but he shows sound logic and leadership qualities.

Also, there is again the magical quality of Hope in the air that the last eight years seemed to squash. If only the small-minded "Arab haters" [reference to a misinformed McCain rally attendee who called Obama an Arab], will admit their fear and see that Obama is an American -- the best kind.

"We will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism. Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists. From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime."

-George W. Bush, September 20, 2001 address to the United States Congress.

I think that all political observers that accused Sarah Palin of not knowing about the Bush Doctrine need to reassess their beliefs. She may not have been able to communicate the principles intelligibly, but she has shown beyond a shadow of a doubt, that she has internalized an understanding of the tactics that the approach involves. The McCain/Palin ticket are simply applying the Bush Doctrine to its political opponent. The accusations that Palin and McCain are making by insinuation have very real consequences, and they need to be held accountable for them.
